    Services

     

    The Residence provides assisted living care for the elderly or impaired. Our Nursing Auxiliary staff assist residents with routine living activities and are familiar with many usual medical ailments associated with aging but are not registered nurses (RN’s). A registered Nurse’s care can be ordered by a resident’s physician when or if it is required. If this level of care becomes necessary, the sponsor or resident will be required to provide an independent service contractor with the appropriate medical skills at the resident’s expense.

    Services

    The Residence agrees to permit Independent Contractors i.e. licensed nurses (RN’s), Physicians, Occupational Therapists to provide special services. The Residence will assist in the delivery of such services through our medical concierge overseen by Dr. Winston Batson. The Resident will be responsible for the cost of such services but may channel the billings via the Residence if so desired.

    Dr Winston Batson was educated at The Combermere School and subsequently attended the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus and completed a Bachelor degree in Science attaining honours in Biology in 1997

    Recognising the importance of health and a need for preventative lifestyle, he pursued medicine as career at the University of the West Indies Completing his medical education in 2002 attaining a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery Degree

    Dr. Batson completed his internship at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital(QEH) and worked for a period of seven years in the department of medicine initially as a senior house officer and then as a Registrar. He was exposed to numerous sub-specialities such as Critical Care and Pulmonology, Cardiology. Neurology and Nephrology among others

    As part of this interest in Community service h e assumed the role of Medical Director of the Cardiac Disease Prevention and Rehabilitation (CDP&R) at the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Barbados (HSFB) in 20019 until 2016. Duties included medical counselling and education as well as exercise prescription to persons who have had post-cardiac surgery, heart attack, heart failure, a stroke or are at special risk of developing heart disease.

    He is also the Medical Director of the Barbados Palliative Care Association as of 2015. Responsibilities including the management of patients at near end-of-life and providing supportive care in the conjunction with supportive network Dr. Batson is member of the Barbados Sports medicine Association (BSMA). He is trained in doping control under the aegis of the Caribbean Regional Anti-Doping Organisation and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).

    He is a certified American Heart Association(AHA) advanced cardiac life support(ACLS) instructor at the HSFB. He encourages all clients and patients to be health conscious and proactive in pursuing a healthy lifestyle. He frequently lectures on "heart-healthy" lifestyles to private organisations and the wider community Dr. Batson has worked at various medical institutions across the island. He believes in continuing one's education and attends annual local and international conferences to update his skill set and the level of service he offers his patients. His futures plans includes future training and workshops in cardiac as well as palliative care in the medical community and the general public

    NEW ACCOMMODATION AND ROOM SERVICES





    The Residence offers accommodation as follows: a private room with sink and nearby bathroom with bed and furnishings as designated by the resident. The resident will be expected to share a bathroom and shower. A shared room will consist of mainly two or maybe three residents sharing a room with privacy curtains being made available to separate residents’ spaces.

    Services include maintenance of the room, bathroom, laundry, and personal care, routine nursing auxiliary care, daily meals and regular stimulation exercises. These activities are designed to me the needs of normal people requiring assistance with daily life activities. Personal or specific nursing care may be requested at an agreed additional cost.

    The provision of care beyond standard assisted living care as described above guarantees the resident an agreed number of hours one on one care in a 24-hour period. Care of this nature may also be provided by a private company or agency with prior approval of the Residence’s management.
